Summer on Cape Cod

Cape Cod is such a special place,
the land, the sea, each friendly face.
Tourists come from all around,
just to hear the ocean's sound.

Cape Cod, there's nothing quite like it,
to see a picture won't be fit.
You must travel here to see,
all of its breath-taking beauty.

It's nature in its untouched state;
when you're here it feels like fate.
The sun shines bright and beats down;
with weather like this it's impossible to frown.

How lucky I am to live in this place,
always at peace, never in a race.
Whether it's the gorgeous beach or sunny land,
the Cape and happiness go hand in hand.

     2nd Place - Perry-Lee

Cape Cod means everything to me,
surrounded by sand and grass and sea.

It's different from any place in the world,
the way it bends like an arm that is curled.

All the beaches you see are pure and peaceful,
and on the streets you can meet nice people.

When you go to Woods Hole there's shops galore,
it never feels like walking's a chore.

Cape Cod is also a great place to go,
if you just want to relax and go with the flow.

Except for the ever changing weather...
you can look but you'll never find any place better.

Cape Cod's Sea

The waves crash down on the sand
and always taking part of Cape Cod's land
The breeze is always blowing salty air
the ocean creatures always taking care
With oceans so plentiful and always giving
keeping me alive, my spirit living
It mean so much to live near the sea
a creature's never too big or too wee
Cape Cod's waters, to live and breathe,
would seem uncaring, making me seethe.
The gulls call can seem like a song,
it's the sign that it's the end of winter's long.
As the beach flowers bloom into color
everything seem so much fuller.
The soft sand beneath my feet
it warms my heart, it's my internal heat.
The ocean is what makes me
it's truth, joy, and reaches internally.

Honorable Mention

Reflection

In the vast sky the sun is setting
looking down, the water's edge
a reflection
The lighthouse shining, faintly in the water
The leaning back touching the sand
cold from the night air
Thinking of storms that have
come and gone  of wind, rain and thunder.
Seeing the bright lighthouse
and the glare of the light onto the sea.
Finally opening my eyes I see
a small reflection on the living sea.
